What should you expect from your hearing testing?

Thinking about having your hearing tested? Wondering what happens at your appointment? Why you should choose us? Here is some information on our clinic, the appointment process and our specialties.

Our office is a medical-based practice where we concentrate on the whole of your hearing healthcare. Our practice in Hammond is a stand-alone clinic in a medical plaza across from North Oaks Hospital. Dr. Mary Miller, our owner, has been a licensed Audiologist in Louisiana since 2006 and was previously licensed as an Audiologist and dispenser in California. Our satellite office in Mandeville is located within Vision Source Optical. Dr. Kimberly Sanborn, who primarily works in Mandeville and is also an Audiologist, has been practicing since 2007. Jeni Abrams, B.S., is the newest edition to our office. She will be graduating with her Doctorate in Audiology in May 2017. I am currently the Office Administrator and also act as an audiology aide, as needed. I have worked in this office (previously Bartels Center for Hearing & Balance) for 13 years and in healthcare for over 20 years. Our goal for our patients is exceptional service and complete satisfaction and we have the knowledge and experience to provide just that. One of us is always available to answer any questions you may have.

We greatly enjoy assisting our patients with their hearing healthcare needs. We are committed to improving the lives of our patients through better hearing. We offer hearing instruments in many different styles and from multiple manufacturers so that we can best fit each patient’s needs and lifestyle. During your appointment, the Audiologist will complete a thorough, medical case history. Then, you will receive a full diagnostic hearing test which includes a comprehensive audiogram, tympanogram, and oto-acoustic emissions test which will be billed to your health insurance company, if applicable. Based on the results of your test, your lifestyle and medical history, the Audiologist will make a recommendation on which instruments will work best for you. We offer a 2-week risk-free trial in our demo hearing instruments and then a 30-day adjustment period once you are fit with your hearing instruments. If for some reason, you cannot adjust to your hearing instruments within the 30 days, you are welcome to return the instruments for a refund, less a $100 per instrument restocking fee.

We specialize in assisting patients with hearing loss and tinnitus (ringing in the ears). Whether you have problems understanding speech, certain voices, in background noise, or if your quality of life is disrupted by tinnitus, we have the solution for all of your hearing healthcare issues. We also specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of dizziness and vertigo, hearing protection devices and assistive listening technologies.
